Carnoustie West End

It’s been a very busy start to the season for the West End Club. They have already claimed the first silverware of the season by winning the Hunter Cup, the job made easier by getting both their teams into the final at Newport Bowling Club.

The West End 2 team of, Mike Black (skip), Ray Gowans, David McGill and Derry Milne ran out winners against a West End 1 team of, Andy Furye (skip), Ramsey Brown, Ian Bowen and Mike Stewart, by 17 shots to 11.

Last Friday the Angus League team travelled to Fairfield Bowling Club for what turned out to be a very tricky game on a difficult green. The West Enders needed all their experience to overcome the home team and maintain their unbeaten start to their defence of the title, taking the victory by eighteen shots over all.

On Saturday, Hillcrest Bowling Club were the visitors to the Kinloch Street green and both teams enjoyed the best weather of the season so far. The Hillcrest team couldn’t match the West End boys and were beaten by 38 shots.
