Athletic Club results

Arbroath and District Athletic Club members travelled to Haddo House at the weekend to compete in the second round of the Castles Cross-Country series.

Through the wind and rain, the athletes all competed very well, most notably under-11 runner Megan Gowans who led her age group to the finish line and senior woman Becky Dunphy who enters the final stage in overall second place.

ADAC results were:

Under-11, girls - Megan Gowans, 6:43; Sarah Smart, 7.36; Emily McGhee, 8.05; Hannah Willey, 8.14; Isla Whitton, 8.36.

Under-13, girls - Katrina Chatton, 15.56: boys - Matthew Law, 13.31; Daniel Smart, 13.32; Elliot Boath, 15.20.

Under-15, girls - Shauna Chisholm, 15.28.

Under-17, women - Elizabeth Barreiro, 22.42.

Senior women - Becky Dunphy, 18.40: senior men - Lewis Morrison, 39.59; Matthew Chisholm, 51.54.

The third and final event in the Castle Series will take place at Balgownie, Aberdeen, on Sunday, February 16.

The start of the indoor track and field season saw several Arbroath athletes travel to the Emirates Arena, Glasgow, to compete in the National Indoor Open.

ADAC results were:

Under-14, girls - Rachel Broadfoot, 60mh – 10.70: 60m – 9.04: long-jump – 4.12.

Under-16, boys - Joel McFarlane, shot-putt – 8.97: triple-jump – 9.56: long-jump – 5.13.

Under-20, women - Ellen Robertson, triple-jump – 11.05: high-jump – 1.55.

Senior men - Dougie Graham, pole vault – 4.00.
