Awards for local swimmers

Trophies won by Carnoustie Claymore swimmers during the session were presented at Crombie Country Park on Saturday.

They were handed over by club head coach Andy Johnston.

Recipients were as follows:

Nine and under: girls - 1, Hannah Ingram, 171 points; 2, Lauren Sainsbury, 169; 3, Louise Melville,166: boys -

1, Kyan Low, 147; 2, Denzhe Ratshilumela, 139; 3, Alex Mitchell, 138.

10 to 12, Grade 2, girls - 1, Alex Begg-Ritchie, 161; 2, Matilda McBean, 160; 3, Kirsty Stopper, 136: boys - 1, Greg Oliphant, 198; 2, Josh Craigie, 172; 3, Luke Gregory, 135.

10 to 12, Grade 1, girls - 1, Niamh Baillie, 239; 2, Sarah Oliphant, 207; 3, Chloe Cameron, 160: boys - 1, Ryan Duncan, 195; 2, Kai Hutton, 174; 3, Paul Thomson, 100.

13 and over, girls - 1, Katie Wallace, 233; 2, Stefanie Walters, 166; 3, Chloe Brown, 116: boys - 1, Ethan Doherty, 216; 2, Thomas Shepherd, 183; 3, Theo Kyriacou, 115.

Three Outstanding Achievement Shields were presented to the swimmers who have excelled in training over the past six months. They were awarded as follows: Dolphins Outstanding Achievement – Rebekah Walker; Sharks Outstanding Achievement – Matilda McBean; and Junior Squad Outstanding Achievement – Rebecca Cook.

On Sunday, a team from Carnoustie Claymores travelled to Linwood, Glasgow, to compete in the Ren 96 Development Gala. The team had an extremely successful day with all swimmers gaining PB times and the team returning with an amazing 18 medals.

Medal winners were - Nine/10, 100m backstroke, 3, Abbie Low; 11/12, 100m backstroke, 2, Gabriella Mulgrew; Eight and under, 50m fly, 5, Angus Milne, 6, Finlay Brooks; 11/12, 50m backstroke, 2, Gabriella Mulgrew; 11/12, 100m freestyle, 1, Stefanie Walters, 4, Gabriella Mulgrew; 9/10, 50m freestyle, 3, Abbie Low; 11/12, 50m freestyle, 3, Gabriella Mulgrew; 11/12, 100m fly, 2, Stefanie Walters, 6, Gabriella Mulgrew; 11/12, 50m fly, 2, Gabriella Mulgrew, 3, Chloe Cameron, 4, Tamzin Firth; eight and under, 50m backstroke, 5, Denzhe Ratshilumela, 6, Angus Milne; 9/10, 50m backstroke, 3, Ryan Duncan; eight and under, 100m freestyle, 3, Finlay Brooks.
