Angus Bowling Association

BROUGHTY lost out in their Angus Championships senior fours semi-final, but Carnoustie West End beat Muirhead & Birkhill in the singles semis to go through to the final where they will meet Craigie.

Results: senior fours – Broughty 6, Maryfield 20: singles – Carnoustie West End 21, Muirhead & Birkhill 15.

Fixtures, Friday, June 6, singles final – Craigie v Carnoustie West End at Montrose at 6.30 p.m.

Scottish Cities and Counties Championships

IN THEIR Hamilton Trophy clash on Saturday, Angus beat Highland by 15 shots and finished fourth in the North section.

Senior League

CARNOUSTIE was the only local team to win in this week’s Angus Senior League when they beat Lochlands away. Carnoustie West End lost out to Abbey and Monifieth lost to Parkview.

Results – Abbey 56, Carnoustie West End 29; Parkview 41, Monifieth 38; Lochlands 40, Carnoustie 52.

Specsavers Angus Leagues

THERE were two very tight games in the Specsavers Angus Leagues last week with Division Two side, Monifieth winning by a single shot and Carnoustie drawing with Lochee in Division Three. Broughty Castle also posted a good win, but Carnoustie West End, Broughty and Barnhill all suffered defeats.

Bowls Scotland

MONIFIETH was the only local team to make it to the District Four mixed pairs quarter-finals, but that was as far as they got, being defeated by Dudhope.

Results; District Four, mixed pairs, round two – Newgate 19, Barnhill 12; Carnoustie West End 14, Monifieth 16; Dudhope 20, Carnoustie 8. Quarter-Finals – Monifieth 9, Dudhope 19.

Broughty Club

IN LAST weekend’s friendlies, Broughty only managed one win, beating Hillcrest by eight shots, but they lost to Canmore by six and narrowly by one to Arbroath.

Results: Broughty 66, Hillcrest 58; Broughty 88, Canmore 94; Broughty 67, Arbroath 68.

RESULTS: Ladies Open Triples winners – Muirhead and Birkhill (S. Johnston, J. Granham, A. McMaster); runners-up – Baxter Park (M. Cook, H. Baxter, M. Grewar); semi-finalist – Broughty Castle (D. Davie, B. Duncan, H. Guild).

ALTHOUGH Dundee got off to a good start in their Hamilton Trophy tie against Bon Accord, they eventually lost out by 23 shots which meant they finished fifth in the North Section.
