Carnoustie Mini/Midi Rugby Club are on a high after a successful weekend at a prestigious sevens tournament.
Last Saturday, the club’s players from primary six to under-16 level attended the Lathallan Sevens rugby event and played against teams from all over Fife and the north-east, including Robert Gordon’s College, Deeside and Gordonstoun .
The P6/7 team played superbly and progressed through to the tournament’s final only to lose out in a closely fought contest against a strong Deeside team.
The under-16s won the plate final after a similarly thrilling tie.
The day’s success was completed by Carnoustie player Callum Watt, who was voted as the player of the tournament.
The success continued on Sunday when some tired and sore players roused themselves again to play in Blairgowrie’s tournament, with Carnoustie micros and P6/7s again winning their groups.
