Barclay Cup

IN THE second round of the Barclay Cup, Broughty lost out in a close game against Muirhead & Birkhill, but Broughty Castle beat Barnhill to go through to the third round where they lost to Invergowrie.

Results: Barclay Cup, second round – Broughty 18, Muirhead & Birkhill 19; Broughty Castle 25, Barnhill 16. Round Three – Broughty Castle 15, Invergowrie 25.

THIS week Broughty were through in Glasgow to play Queens Park, going down by 128-78.

City of Dundee Bowling Association

Seniors League

AFTER a week’s break, the City of Dundee Bowling Association Seniors League resumed on Tuesday afternoon, but once again there was little joy for local representatives.

Barnhill took only one point from their away fixture with Strathmartine, while Broughty returned empty-handed from their visit to Muirhead.

Results: Hillcrest 29 shots (1 point), Fairfield 38 (5); Dudhope 55 (6), Lochee 19 (0); Muirhead 44 (6), Broughty 22 (0); Balgay v Baxter Park postponed; Strathmartine 29 (5), Barnhill 27 (1); Longforgan 38 (5), Craigie 19 (1).

The Findlay-Lesslie Charity Trophy presentation game will be held at Broughty Bowling Club on Thursday, June 14.

Monifieth Club

Scottish Cities and Counties Championships

IN THE Andrew Hamilton Trophy on Saturday, both Angus and City of Dundee had a good win against Perthshire and Buchan. Tomorrow (Saturday) they come up against one another at Forfar Bowling Club.
