Championship venues

MIDLAND Golfers’ Alliance has announced details of their calendar of events for the 2012/13 season.

The opening competition will be held at Muckhart on Thursday, August 23, and local venues include Ballumbie Castle on August 30, Carnoustie (Buddon Links) on February 7, and Monifieth (Medal) on March 26.

This year’s Scottish Alliance Championship will be played at Monifieth and Arbroath Links from October 9 to 11.

Best finish

AILSA Summers and Jessica Meek, both of Carnoustie Ladies Golf Club, were members of the Under-18 Scottish team that finished 13th in the European Girls’ Golf Championships held last week at St Leon-Rot, Germany. It was Scotland’s best finish in the event for many years.

Open day

THE LADIES of Panmure Golf Club, Barry, are holding an open day on Tuesday, August 28, with an entry fee of £10.

There will be prizes for both silver and bronze divisions and a raffle is being held in aid of Alzheimer’s Scotland.
