Carnoustie Claymores had a successful start to 2014 when they finished second in the first Midland Division Two gala of the season.

The event was hosted by Forfar Falcons Swimming Club and held at Arbroath Leisure Centre.

Competing along with the Claymores were Forfar Falcons, Brechin Beavers, Monifieth Swim Club and Perth City Swim Club.

The final scores were - 1, Perth Swim Club, 145 points; 2, Carnoustie Claymores, 127; 3, Monifieth Swim Club, 125; 4, Brechin Beavers, 101; 5, Forfar Falcons, 76.

This is the first season Carnoustie Claymores have entered two teams in the Midland District Leagues, one team in Division One having won promotion last year and a further team competing in Division Two.

For many of the swimmers it was their first experience of a swimming gala, so coming a close second was a great achievement.
