Fine end to Angus campaign by the champions

DIVISION One champions Carnoustie West End rounded-off the Angus Bowling League season on a winning note with a nine-shot away victory over Dudhope on Friday evening.

Broughty also completed their fixture programme with a win at home to Monifieth, whose seventh defeat of the competition sees them relegated along with Maryfield.

In Division Two, Barnhill narrowly missed out on promotion after losing at home to Letham. The two clubs going up are champions Arbroath and runners-up Fairfield, who clinched second place on shots difference from Parkview and Barnhill.

Finals day

DUNDEE and district Wednesday Bowling Association held their annual finals day at Broughty BC last midweek, but there was no joy for the local participants.

Jim Garvie, Broughty Castle, lost out to Maryfield’s John Aimer in the final of the Ferguson Singles, while Monifieth were beaten by Balgay in the Millar Triples final.

Seniors’ League

IN THE City of Dundee Seniors’ League on Tuesday afternoon, Barnhill took four points from a 28-25 victory against Lochee, but Broughty drew a blank in a 37-26 defeat from Fairfield.
