CARNOUSTIE mini racer Fiona Wallace will be competing live on TV this weekend as part of the British Touring Car Championships.
Fiona, who is riding high with the Scottish Motor Racing Club in her mini, will be on ITV 4 live on Sunday.
Scottish minis are supporting the British Touring Car Championship and Fiona will be competing at the Croft racing circuit near Scotch Corner, North Yorkshire.
Another event at Knockhill on August 26 will see her second appearance on ITV4.
Fiona was last year crowned Scottish ladies’ champion of the Celtic Speed Scottish Mini Cooper Cup and is already training hard to retain her title.
During the winter she underwent intensive training to improve her lap times and technique at the Knockhill circuit with coaching being given by Vic Covey Junior, a former Mini champion and older mentor, Ian Milton.
Fiona is now racing with the Scottish Motor Racing Club and is currently neck and neck with fellow driver Elaine Marshall.
Currently, Elaine is on 180 points with Fiona on 160.
They compete in three races every weekend, except when they are in England where they only race twice on the track.
In the third race of the season, Fiona’s mini suffered electrical problems so she could not start the race, costing her many points.
At a recent meeting at Oulton Park in Chester, Fiona took 11th position on the grid then managed to finish a creditable 14th with her Mini Max Team very impressed with her pace and technique.
And her dad Ian says it is great to see his daughter performing.
He added: “All of the girls have become firm friends and it is amazing to see them in the paddock just before the start of each race cool and calm while the boys look really tense.”
