MONIFIETH’S Derrick Wilson tied for first handicap prize in a Midland Golfers’ Alliance competition held in wet and windy conditions at Drumoig last Tuesday.

Playing off a handicap of four, Derrick returned a net 72 and was joined on that score by Hugh Hunter, Alloa, (10) and John Rankin, Scotscraig, (7).

Best scratch score was a level-par 72 by Scotscraig assistant professional Cameron West.

Azores Ladies’ Open

CARNOUSTIE’S Katy McNicoll finished joint 15th in the Azores Ladies Open, the final event on the Ladies European Tour’s developmental Access Series circuit. She carded rounds of 78, 75, 75 for 228.

The only other Scot, Heather McCrae (Gleneagles Hotel), finished in 18th place with rounds of 74, 80, 77, 231.

Holes-in-one.

Keith Brodie had a hole-in-one on the 121 yard 12th at Balumbie, with a nine iron. His playing partners were George Middleton and Ally McIntosh.

Grange’s Jim Liness holed out at the third on the Ashludie Course with a wedge. His fellow playing partners were A. Cummings, W. Fleming and D. Stewart. This was Jim’s first hole-in-one in 52 years of playing golf.
