Gala success for Carnoustie Claymores

CARNOUSTIE Claymores ASC swimmers continue to record remarkable achievements in only the club’s second year in competition.

On Sunday they competed in a memorial gala held by Fauldhouse Penguins Amateur Swimming Club at Deans Community High School, Livingston.

Teams from across Scotland, including Alloa Amateur Swimming Club, Bathgate ASC, Dumfries ASC, Dundee City ASC (DCA), Fauldhouse Penguins ASC, Forfar ASC, Livingston District ASC and Rutherglen ASC, also took part.

The gala is dedicated to the former club founder and head coach of Fauldhouse Penguins, Eian Prentice, who died in 2007.

Carnoustie Claymores returned from Livingston with seven medals won by the 10 competing swimmers.

All swimmers achieving personal best times over 25m and 50m distance races.

Morning session (eight and nine-year-olds)

Medal winners were: Hannah Ingram - 3, 25m butterfly, 25.24 seconds; 5, 25m backstroke, 23.81; 5, 25m breaststroke, 28.31; and 5, 25m freestyle, 20.49.

Lauren Sainsbury - 6, 25m backstroke, 24.23.

Ryan Duncan - 6, 50m backstroke, 47.04.

Afternoon session (10 and 11-year-olds)

Paul Thomson - 6, 50m breaststroke, 47.16.
