Gazette athletes were among the winners at the first Montrose triathlon last weekend organised by social enterprise group Tri Angus.
Heather Ingram (16) came first in the Female Novice Youth category and Broughty Ferry man Rory Fairbairn from the M3 Tri Club posted the fastest time of the day to clinch first place in the male section.
The event attracted a large number of people in glorious weather to watch the 180 competitors, around half of whom were attempting their first triathlon.
It provided an opportunity to showcase what Montrose has to offer and was widely supported by local businesses.
Tri Angus director Maggie Lawrie said: “It has been a fantastic event and after all the hard work of organising everything it was great to see everyone really enjoy themselves and feel proud of their achievements at the finish line.
“The Tri Angus team are definitely keen to welcome everyone back to the event again next year and are looking into the possibility of adding a second race to the calendar. The dates haven’t been set just yet but make sure you follow us on Facebook and Twitter to be first to enter.”
