Kingennie

THIS week has seen a steady improvement in weather and temperatures and Kingennie trout seem to be enjoying the better conditions as much as the anglers.

The Bankside fish have been sipping demergers just sub-surface and at times the problem was deciding which fish to cover! Catch and release regulars had some great sport with CDCs and demergers and many reported hooking and releasing between five and 15 fish for their session.

When the fish haven’t been on the surface, black lures such as a Montana and humongous have taken lots of fish. The top rod this week was B. Martin with 37 fish released on a humongous and claret hoppers.

The Burnside continues to fish well with most fish coming to nymphs and buzzers when the weather hasn’t been great. When the wind has dropped off, dry fly continues to take most fish with small demergers and shuttlecocks being popular.

Mr White had the biggest fish of the week with a rainbow of over 8lb.

On the boathouse pool, lures have been the top method this week in the windy conditions.

Catches included: Mr Craig, three for 16lb; Mr Fyffe, two for 11lb; Mr Smith, two for 11lb; Mr West, two for 12lb; Mr Degan and party, five for 31lb; Mr Miller, two for 13lb; and Mr Williamson, two for 12lb 8oz.
