LEO LORIMER (19), the son of Irene Conchie at Rowanlea Stables, Barry, has qualified for this year’s Horse of the Year Show which takes place at the NEC, Birmingham, on Wednesday, October 5.

He will compete in the amateur showjumping class riding Calvaros Ace, a 10-year-old mare which belongs to his employer, Jim Wilmer, Ayrshire.

Leo, who has been riding all his life, works at Rowanlea from Monday to Thursday then heads southwest to put in time for Mr Wilmer at his stables.

At the prestigious event he will be up against the best riders and showjumpers in Britain and is hugely looking forward to the challenge.
