“Just like the old days” at rugby challenge

CARNOUSTIE High School FPs held their annual Captain v Vice-Captain challenge on Saturday at the High School grounds.

For the first time in a number of years there was a full complement of 15 players in each select team, plus half a dozen substitutes on the bench.

In a hard, closely fought and entertaining encounter the Captain’s select came out on top, 37-15. There were a number of good team and individual scores and both old and young had a thoroughly enjoyable game.

From the club and spectator point of view it was pleasing to see so many up-and-coming young players on the park and to see how the rugby education via the mini/midi to colts set up has brought their abilities to fruition.

The atmosphere in the clubhouse following the match was reminiscent of rugby days gone by and a good time was had by all involved.
