Knock-out competitions reach conclusion

Three of the Arbroath Carpet Bowling League Knockout finals took place during week commencing March 17.

Singles

The final was between Dave Strachan of Arbroath A and Paul Martin of Newgate F, and took place, on Wednesday, at the Abbey BC before a smaller than anticipated audience.

Dave found his line and length right away and Paul was quickly 12–0 down after five ends.

Paul then won five of the next eight to begin to come back and the score after 13 ends was 18–6, but the task was too big and Dave ran out winner after 16 ends.

Doubles

The final was between Newgate D and Newgate F. and took place on Thursday before a good turnout of supporters and spectators

The game started at a brisk pace with some high scoring ends and F found themselves 12–3 down after seven ends.

The two sides shared the next 10 ends, five each, with each side getting nine shots, and the final score was Newgate D 20, Newgate F 12.

Triples

Due to holiday commitments the final, Arbroath Z v Abbey D, play at British Legion Club, will played on Tuesday, April 8, with referee D. Stupart.

Rinks

The final was between Arbroath C and MBB and took place on Tuesday at Lochlands BC, before a small, but enthusiastic, audience.

The first four ends were shared and the score was 3–3, then Arbroath picked up six over the next four ends, and the score was 9-3.

The next eight ends were shared with Arbroath scoring eight shots and MBB 5.

The 17th end was not played as the score was Arbroath C 17, MBB 8.
