Last ball victory for Forfarshire

FORFARSHIRE maintained their challenge for the Scottish National League Premiership title with a thrilling last ball victory away to West of Scotland at Hamilton Crescent, Glasgow, on Saturday.

A third wicket stand between Young (33) and home pro De Grandhomme (60) of 96 put West in a strong position to post a big total. However, De Grandhomme fell with the score on 133 and after that the hosts had to be content with 232 for nine from their 50 overs.

Brendan Ford and Graeme Garden put on 50 for Forfarshire’s first wicket, but it was Ryan Watson who top-scored with 101 before being bowled by Cran with the score on 220, just 13 short of the target. In a nail-biting finish, Jalees Ahmed clipped the last ball of the match to the square-leg boundary to secure the victory.
