AMERICAN Brittany Lincicome was grateful for the kind early morning weather conditions at Carnoustie yesterday (Thursday) for the Ricoh Women’s Open.
She was among the group of early starters yesterday and is currently in fourth place after one round having scored a five under par 67.
Lincicome, who starts again today at 12.21 p.m., was one of the lucky ones who didn’t have to contend with wet weather late yesterday.
She said: “Conditions were perfect, you could have had shorts and a shirt sleeved shirt and been perfectly fine.
“Of course I have three layers of pants and Under Armour and jackets anticipating the snow, but this morning it was beautiful.
“It was unlike the British Open actually. It was really pretty.”
The world number 14 was thrilled with her first round and hopes to continue with another good one today.
She added: “It’s a course where you can take advantage of the holes where you can and then there’s obviously holes where you need to kind of lay off with the five irons and six irons and you have to play conservative.
“It’s a great golf course, and it seems to fit my game very well.”
