Local bowlers picked for Scotland team

TWO MEMBERS of Arbroath and District Indoor Bowling Club - Leanne Furye and Caroline Ruxton - have been selected for the Scotland team.

Arbroath gents played their last Scottish League game against Fraserburgh. The visitors held an eight-point advantage after five ends but Arbroath recovered and led by 11 shots at the halfway stage. However, over the remaining ends Fraserburgh were the better finishers, running out winners by seven shots.

The gents’ National Triples playdowns take place tomorrow (Saturday) at Garioch and the club’s representatives are Ryan Bennett, David McGill and Andy Furye. They will face Bon Accord at 9.30 a.m.

Ladies’ success

The ladies’ team travelled north to Aberdeen on Saturday for their final Scottish League match of the season.

They were keen to maintain their fine record. In a close game, the visitors won by a four-shot margin.

The ladies head for Tranent, East Lothian, on Saturday, February 26, to contest the final of the Scottish League against Midlothian.

Representatives in the Ladies’ National Triples playdowns at Garioch tomorrow (Saturday) are Leanne Furye, Caroline Ruxton and Trixie McKay. They will play Buchan and their match starts at 9.30 a.m.
