Carnoustie West End’s Andy Furye partnered Lochlands member Peter Thomson to victory in the open pairs competition at the week-long 41st annual Carnoustie Open Bowling Tournament, sponsored by Wallace Express, which concluded at the Maule Street green on Saturday afternoon.

In the final, they defeated Newgate pairing Harry Burnett and Jim Robbie by the narrowest of margins to give Andy his second successive open pairs title at the tournament.

Last year he was partnered by fellow Carnoustie West End member Robert Torrie jnr.

The gents’ singles competition was won by Arthur Sturrock, Monifieth, and the ladies’ singles competition by Lesley West, Errol. Glenn Milne, Monifieth, and Leanne Furye, Arbroath Indoor, were the respective runners-up.
