Locals do well

WITH Monifieth and Auchterarder golf clubs hosting their respective bi-annual exchange junior teams from Lake Charles, USA, and Flommen, Sweden, this week, a competition was held over the Monifieth Medal course for the four teams of six players.

The matches teed-off in what could only be described as horrendous conditions, with the rain not finally going off until most of the players were on the back nine. However, the course held up remarkably well considering the amount of rain that fell.

After the match, the visitors were treated to a mini Scottish evening with overall winner Tom Ogilvie piping in the haggis and the traditional address to the haggis superbly performed by Fred Hutcheon.

Results: 1, Tom Ogilvie, Monifieth, 33 points; 2, Calum McKay, Monifieth, 31 points, bih; 3, Steven Young, Auchterarder, 31 points.
