Open day for new tennis club

MONIFIETH Tennis Club is beginning its first full season next month and is kicking off the new tennis year with an open day on Sunday, March 31.

The event, which is at the club’s main base at Riverview Drive, Monifieth, runs from 1 to 4 p.m., when prospective new members can come along and enjoy fun and games on the courts and find out more about the club.

The club has recently taken on a 25 year lease from Angus Council and is looking to gain funding to resurface the three courts.

The event is also part of a series of activities throughout Angus for Tartan Week where there will be a prize for the best dressed in tartan.

There will be activities for the entire family including face painting, cake stall, mini tennis, fastest serve speed, cardio tennis, Easter egg hunt and craft activities.

Events taking place on the court include: 1 p.m. - adult taster session; 1.30 p.m. - beginner adults; 2 p.m. - mini tennis; 2.30 p.m. - cardio tennis; 3 p.m. - mini tennis and family doubles competition.

There will also be a fastest serve speed competition throughout the day as well as a best dressed in tartan competition and an easter egg hunt.
