Carnoustie West End

West End just missed out on a trip to Ayr in the summer. Ramsay Brown made the trip to Brechin BC to play in the district final of the Scottish Senior Singles on Monday afternoon. His opponent, Ian Stewart from Canmore BC, proved too strong on the day and Ramsay lost out 21-9. Ian now moves on to the National finals at Northfield in July and on Monday’s form no one at West End will be betting against him for the title.

The Angus League team maintained their 100 per cent record in a rain affected game against Montrose at the Kinloch Street green on Friday night. Despite a 20-minute delay during the game to allow water to drain away the boys went on to win despite a late surge from the Montrose lads. The next game is at Broughty tonight (Friday) and it’s a must win game for both teams as Broughty are fighting to avoid relegation. On Saturday, the West Enders made the short trip to Barnhill to play in a friendly. On a tricky green they were given a lesson from the home team.
