CARNOUSTIE West End Bowling club had a busy week with the start of the Hunter Cup competition and a friendly against Arbroath BC on Saturday.

In The Hunter Cup the defending champions West End 2 started their defence against a strong Maryfield rink at Maule Street on Tuesday night. The West End lads opened strongly and kept their rivals at bay before running out 21-7 winners.

Both West End rinks played on Thursday night at Abbey BC hoping for repeat of last year’s competition when both rinks made it to the final. It was a case of one in one out as West End 1 lost by one shot to Lochee BC and West End 2 defeated Muirhead and Birkhill by two shots.

On Saturday the club made the trip to Arbroath to play Arbroath BC at Dishlandhill. The sun shone on the players and West End travelled back to Carnoustie victorious. Both teams enjoyed some competitive bowling played at a high standard but still took time to enjoy the company.
