Angus Bowling Association

IN SUNDAY’S Top Five, third round matches, Carnoustie West End had a good win against Monifieth to go into the semi-finals on Sunday, September 2, at 2.30 p.m. where they will meet Forfar. The other semi-final is between Arbroath and Letham.

Results: Angus Championships Top Five – Maryfield 1, Letham 4; Arbroath 3, Muirhead and Birkhill 2; Carnoustie West End 4, Monifieth 1; Forfar 3, Strathmartine 2.

In the Andrew Clark Trophy competition, City of Dundee Bowling Association beat Angus Bowling Association 117-104.

City Of Dundee Championships

IN THE City of Dundee Championships, Barnhill reached the final of the Senior Fours at Lochee Bowling Club on Thursday, where they defeated Maryfield, to win the P. Dyer Trophy.

Results: P. Dyer Trophy, semi-finals, senior fours – Strathmartine 9, Barnhill 19. Final – Maryfield 9, Barnhill 17.

Scottish Young Bowlers’ Association

ANGUS and Dundee won against Fife in the Inter-County play-offs but were then beaten by West Fife and lost out on a spot in the finals.

Results: Inter-County play-offs – Fife 51, West Fife 58; Fife 43, Angus and Dundee 58; Angus and Dundee 42, West Fife 71. West Fife qualify for the finals at Denny in September.

Bowls Scotland

NORTH Section, Senior League: At Arbroath – Angus 23, Dundee 10; Angus 10, Dundee 20. Games at Broughty called off due to rain. Final score: Angus 33, 5 points, Dundee, 30, 2 points.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP finals were postponed from Tuesday as Lochee Bowling Club’s green was unplayable due to rain. They will be played tonight (Friday) at 6 p.m., weather permitting.
