Round up of your local sporting events

Carnoustie High School fencer Caitlin Philbin recently represented Scotland Under-15s in the Challenge Wratislavia Tournament in Poland. To participate in this level of competition, Caitlin required new specialist epe weapons. Requests for support to acquire this equipment were sent out by club coach, Joe McCall and were answered by Carnoustie Rotary Club, Carnoustie Crime Prevention Panel, Carnoustie Sportsman's Dinner Committee and Carnoustie High School. The fencing club would like to say thanks to all the local organisations that had helped supply the new blades that Caitlin used so successfully in Poland. Caitlin is pictured being presented with the blades.

Lintrathen

Lintrathen Loch has continued giving great sport since it opened and the catches over the past week have been more than satisfying to the anglers who have been out.

The breezy winds have kept the rainbows down about two to three feet below the surface, resulting in the best catches going to anglers fishing slow glass or intermediate lines.

The best catching flies have been cormorants, black snatchers, yellow dancers and white fritz, fished very slow to almost static.

Some anglers have been taking decent brownies late on in the afternoon up on the surface but have returned the majority.

Results: Newtyle, Meigle & District - three boats, 12 fish for 42lbs 8ozs. Individual boats - E. Stewart four for 9lbs. C.Kirk and partner eight for 20lbs 2oz, Cairns and Munro eight for 19lbs, M. and G. Thomson eight for 16lbs 9oz, Tom Melville and Jim Galloway seven for 20lbs (including one at 3lbs 9oz), John Browning and Duncan Campbell, seven for 17lbs, Jim and Dave Moncur, seven for 17lbs, Lennon and Jeffery eight for 18lbs 6oz.
