Rugby tournament success

AN ANNUAL Carnoustie junior rugby tournament attracted over 200 children at the weekend.

The Carnoustie Mini/Midi rugby tournament was held at Carnoustie High School on Sunday.

Children between the ages of five and 11 from nine teams participated, and included Strathmore, Brechin, Dundee Eagles, Blairgowrie, Montrose, Murrayfield Wanders, Arbroath and Howe of Fife.

In the Micro section, comprising P1 to 3, Carnoustie Reds emerged victorious over Strathmore in the final with four tries to three.

Murrayfield Wanders beat Carnoustie in the P4 to 5 section five tries to nothing.

Meanwhile, in the P6 to 7 final, Carnoustie triumphed over Strathmore five tries to none in glorious weather.

Greg Blackmore, Carnoustie Rugby Club president, said: “Carnoustie Rugby Club wish to thank all the teams for their participation in all the matches.

“We would also like to extended our thanks to all our sponsors and GA Engineering who were our main sponsor for the tournament.”
