Settled weather helps anglers’ catches

Kingennie

THE PONDS at Kingennie have been fishing well again over the last week with the settled weather playing a big part.

Effective flies have been the grizzly cat or the hot head damsel, with a few fish coming out to diwal bachs, buzzers and bloodworm of various colours.

The boathouse pool was on top form with anglers able to target fish in the clear water. Lures have done best with cat’s whisker, hot head damsel and the miller skunk doing well. The biggest fish of the week honour went to Davie Simpson with a nice rainbow of 9lb 8oz.

The Burnside and Woodside pools are fishing much better now that the colour has gone from the water. On the Burnside, bloodworm has worked really well with the apps and oily bloodworm doing the most damage when fished under a bung.

On the Woodside it has been all about the power bait either popped up off the bottom or fished under a float. Most anglers have left the Woodside with bag limits of good quality rainbows.

The Bankside pool is getting back to its best with the fish spreading out of the bays giving anglers good sport all over the pond.

There are still places for the SANA still water bank championship to be held at Kingennie on March 27 on the Bankside. For further information please call 01382 350777 or 350213.
