‘Shire to host Mumbai visitors

FORFARSHIRE Cricket Club, Broughty Ferry, are to host a team from Mumbai on Tuesday, August 2, when a Bombay Gymkhana Touring XI visit Forthill as part of their Scottish tour.

Bombay Gymkhana are one of Mumbai’s oldest and largest clubs, founded in 1875 with links to this area through former Indian test batsman Jay Kenia, who spent a year with Dundee High School FP as their professional.

Efforts are being made to collect Forfarshire memorabilia to display in the clubhouse for the start of the outdoor season.

Anyone with any pictures, photographs, or other items of interest relating to Forfarshire is asked to contact Gordon Walker.

Meanwhile, the penultimate series of round-robin matches in the Clubsport Indoor Sixes League took place at the Mayfield Sports Centre, Dundee, last Wednesday.

Forfarshire lost to both Arbroath United and Dundee High School FP.

Results: Dundee High School FP 94, Rossie Priory 66; Arbroath United 117, Forfarshire 52; Arbroath United 122, Rossie Priory 72; Dundee High School FP 126, Forfarshire 98.
