‘Shire youngsters shine for Scotland

FORFARSHIRE’S Aman Bailwal and Ruaidhri Smith helped Scotland’s under-19 World Cup team to victory over Ireland in Brisbane by claiming three wickets each as the Irish were bowled out for just 185.

Craig Wright’s young Scots side, which quailified as top associate nation, defeated Zimbabwe, but also suffered two heavy defeats against Afghanistan to finish in a creditable 11th place and had Wright declaring their World Cup campaign a qualified success.

The under-15 Scottish Cup semi-finals and finals are now confirmed as taking place at The Tryst, Stenhousemuir Cricket Club, on Sunday (September 2).
