Conditions were virtually perfect today (Thursday) for the first round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at Carnoustie.

Wind was almost negligible to begin with although it did pick up slightly as the morning progressed but this did not seem to hamper either the pros or their amateur counterparts.

Perhaps the only thing that might cause any problems for the golfers is the sound of gun fire coming from the live firing range at Barry Buddon training ground which caused some golfing commentators to joke that this was perhaps an example of the application of the stringent ‘slow play’ rule.
