A week of settled weather at Forbes of Kingennie has seen some very consistent fishing on all the ponds. The water clarity continues to improve and the water is now very clear and has really helped the catch rates.

The Bankside has fished well since reopening but none of the big fish that were stocked had made an appearance until Mr Tony McCabe managed to land a 14lbs 4oz rainbow. Tony was fishing a hot head damsel on an intermediate line in the first bay by the inflow pipe.

Most of the fish have been very well spread out, but he first bay has been the hot spot. Lures continue to dominate as the most popular method but with the improved water clarity there’s been a lot more fish caught on nymphs with a wee bit of red in them. Mr Barlow had a productive morning landing 14 fish fishing diawl bachs on the washing line.

The Boathouse has been quite quiet this week but those who have fished it have done very well. Blobs and leggy bloodworms have taken most of the fish. Mr McHardy took two fish for 13lbs 6oz. Mr Gillespie had a 9lbs 3oz rainbow on a hare’s ear.

The Burnside has continued to produce a lot of fish on a number of methods but a sinking line and lures or blobs fished quickly is catching most fish. Olive buzzers have been the best nymphs and even small dries have taken fish when the weather settles.

Mr Dickson returned 13 fish on “wee stuff” on Wednesday. Mr Simpson did very well on Saturday retuning 16 fish in just a few hours.

The Woodside is still fishing really well with most fish falling to powerbait under a float or spinners. Mr Pitchaithly and his fishing partner had a morning to remember on Sunday taking 16 fish for 24 lbs. Mr Higgins took the best fish on the week with a 2lb 14oz brown caught on a spinner.
