FORTHILL Sports Club is calling for local people in Broughty Ferry to sign up and play tennis.
The club has been busy rolling its unique blaes courts in preparation for the new season and has extended an invitation to all to come and sample tennis.
The club is hosting an open day on Sunday (April 29) from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the Fintry Place, Broughty Ferry, facility which will provide a great opportunity for anyone to pop along see what’s on offer.
It will feature children’s tennis taster sessions, an adult tennis fun tournament, a barbecue, face painting, a beat the goalie competition, children’s arts and crafts and much more. There will also be a visit from a fire engine and a treasure hunt too!
Carolyn McDonald (34) did just that two years ago and has become addicted to the sport since then.
Carolyn said: “I found the club so welcoming and was encouraged by all the members who play there. I was quite apprehensive to begin with, but my friend, April Davidson, ladies’ first team captain, reassured me to stick with it and I did!
“I now play three times a week and have lost a stone in weight and several inches. I feel fitter, healthier and I have more energy for life. Not only that, but after having moved from an entirely different area I found the social scene great fun.
“The club runs quizzes, race nights and dinner dances. I especially like the feel of community when I am there. I can wholeheartedly recommend tennis and the club.”
April Davidson added: “Carolyn is an inspiration to others to pick up a racquet and I would love to see more of the community doing likewise. I have found tennis to be a reward not only for exercise but for a great outdoor activity, with great friends.”
