Kingennie

THE FISHING this week at Forbes of Kingennie has been really productive with great catch returns from all the ponds.

The boathouse has remained very clear which has seen the fish following big lures but anglers are having to fish smaller flies to get them to take. Damsels, Montanans and apps bloodworms have been very popular. The biggest fish this week was taken by C. Robertson with a 9lbs 3ozs rainbow taken on a stalking bug.

The Burnside has been on great form with lots of fish in the three to five 5lbs range being caught as well as a couple of really big fish being lost. Most lures have been taking plenty fish but black and silver buzzers and crunchers have been the most consistent flies. Bags this week include Mr Brown with four for 12lbs (two at 4lbs 8ozs) and Mr Holmes two for 7lbs, 15 returned.

The Bankside has been very steady with most fish getting caught in the mornings to most methods. Small black and green lures and hothead damsels have been productive. Buzzers and nymphs have also taken lots of fish.

They are still really hitting the fry but they seem to be staying just out of range. The best bag this week was taken by Mr Williamson with two for 7lbs with 22 returned on “anything lime green”.
