THE LAST day of the Women’s Open being held at Carnoustie is being billed ‘Super Sunday’ as there will be a focus on fund-raising.
The championship committee has announced that for every birdie or better on Sunday, July 31, a donation will be made to the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal.
Representatives from the championship committee comprise of senior executives from the LGU, IMG, Ricoh, the LPGA and Ladies’ European Tour.
Guy Kinnings, managing director, IMG Golf, said: “We are very happy to support this initiative and hope to see a lot of red on the leader board on Sunday.
“IMG has offices in Japan and has a very close relationship with Ricoh and many other Japanese companies and we feel honoured to assist with fund-raising efforts through this initiative.”
The Women’s Open starts at Carnoustie on Thursday, July 28 and runs until July 31.
