IN THE Tennis Tayside Leagues Broughty Ferry men’s (1) and men’s (3) both had good wins along with ladies (1). In the juniors, Broughty (1) lost in their Superleague match with Kinnoull, but both second and third teams had good wins in their divisions.

Results, Gent’s League, June 7, Division Two – Broughty Ferry (1) 17, Tayport 1. Division Three – Kinnoull (2) 17, Broughty Ferry (2) 1. Division Six – Broughty Ferry (3) 14, Glenfarg 4.

Ladies’ League, June 11, Division Two – Broughty Ferry (1) 9, St Andrews (2) 7. Division 4. – Lundin Links 11, Broughty Ferry (2) 4.

CARNOUSTIE and district Racing Pigeon Club took part in a race from Leicester on Saturday. Three members sent 20 birds.

Leading velocities were - 1, Les McKay 991.63; 2, Les McKay 931.8; 3, Les McKay 894.3.

Athletics

McColgan breaks Scottish record

CARNOUSTIE runner Eilish McColgan achieved a personal best in a race in Oslo last week.

On Thursday Eilish competed in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Samsung Diamond League / Bislett Games, and finished a strong ninth.

Her time of nine minutes 38.45 seconds meant she broke her own Scottish record of nine minutes 44.8 seconds and was also within the Olympic qualifiying standard of 9.43.
