ONCE again the weather took its toll on Forfarshire’s weekend matches with all but their Scottish Cup match away to Stenhousemuir on Saturday, which they lost in the last over, being cancelled.
Stenhousemuir v Forfarshire
Forfarshire made a good start at The Tryst and had reached 36 for 1 in the 7th over when a short break for rain reduced the match to 47 overs per side, but after just another seven balls, play was halted for three hours. This saw the match shortened further to 25 overs per side.
Batting become more difficult on resumption, and Forfarshire crept up to 102 for 9 with only Aman Bailwal (30) making a significant contribution.
The Duckworth Lewis method calculated that Stenhousemuir required 114 to win and a steady 33 not out from pro Jappie, in addition to 37 from opener Nagel, saw Stenhousemuir get to within sight of victory, but with 22 needed from the last three overs, the game hung in the balance. However the home side crossed the line with five balls to spare thanks to a quick 18 from Arfat.
