Wet weather plays havoc with weekend cricket fixtures

FORFARSHIRE remain second in the Scottish National League Premiership despite not a ball being bowled in their home fixture against Tunnock’s Uddingston at Forthill on Saturday.

In the Clubsport Strathmore and Perthshire Union Division One, wet weather also forced the cancellation of Forthill’s away match with Norwood at Dawson Park.

Forthill XI’s annual friendly at Coupar Angus on Sunday was reduced to 20 overs-a-side to avoid the onset of still more wet weather, but with four overs of the match remaining heavy rain forced play to end early.

Craig McConnachie made full use of a chance to open the batting and hit a personal best score of 44 not out, including five boundaries on a very slow outfield. Glenn Carnegie contributed a fine 21 and a composed 15 from Cameron Walker saw Forthill XI post 122 for five from their 20 overs.

In reply, Coupar Angus had struggled to 43 for four in the 16th over when rain halted play for the day, Priyanaz Chatterji claiming two for 9 from three overs.
