Winning weekend for Claymores

Carnoustie Claymores took part in the Trojan Time Banded Gala at the Xcite Leisure Centre, Bathgate, on Saturday.

All the races were contested over 50 metres. A total of 16 clubs took part and Carnoustie Claymores came fourth overall.

Medal winners were: Katie Wallace - 2, butterfly, 3, breaststroke; Kai Hutton - 1, backstroke; Sarah-Louise Meldrum - 3, butterfly; Ryan Duncan - 1, freestyle, 3, butterfly; Sarah Oliphant - 1, breaststroke, 3, backstroke, 6, butterfly; Stephanie Walters - 3, freestyle, 6, butterfly, 6, breaststroke; Greg Oliphant - 2, freestyle, 4, backstroke, 5, butterfly; Chloe Brown - 1, backstroke; Abbie Low - 3, freestyle; Holly Milne - 3, freestyle; Hannah Ingram - 4, freestyle; Chloe Cameron, 4, butterfly. Carnoustie Claymores also took fourth place in the 8x50m Freestyle Relay.

In addition to the medals, several swimmers won certificates for swimming ‘too fast’ in their races.

On Sunday, 10 swimmers travelled north to compete in the Aberdeen Dolphins Novice Gala. This event was for swimmers aged 11 and younger.

Medal winners were: Denzhe Ratshilumela - 3, 25m backstroke, 2, 25m breaststroke, 3, 25m freestyle; Ryan Duncan - 2, 50m backstroke, 3, 25m butterfly; Sarah Oliphant - 3, 50m breaststroke; Emily Cattanach - 2, 25m butterfly; Greg Oliphant - 1, 25m butterfly.

The 100m Medley Relay Team of Greg Oliphant, Ryan Duncan, Chloe Cameron and Sarah Oliphant took second place.
