The winter months and festive period have been a busy time for St Thomas swimmers.
Last week they took part in the St Thomas Age Group Championships with many close races and excellent swimming on show.
Luke Shepherd broke the 14 and over boys’ 100 backstroke record by two seconds and Sophie Smith set a new record in the 12 year old girls’ 100 freestyle.
Many swimmers were also making their debut at a competition and cheered on by a supportive crowd they rose to the occasion.
The results were as follows:
eight and under champions - Natasha Phillips and Harris Harley; nine-year-old champions - Carla Brown and Stewart Alexander; 10-year-old champions - Blythe Brown and Lewis Runge; 11-year-old champions - Elle McMillan and Cameron Craig; 12-year-old champions - Sophie Smith and George Cowan; 13-year-old champions - Ashley Thomson and Joshua Mitchell; 14 and over champions - Katie Phillips and Luke Shepherd.
