New cricket season starts

THIS WEEKEND sees the start of the new season and new sponsors, Autoecosse, for Forfarshire Cricket Club with a Scottish Cup and a league match on Saturday and a friendly on Sunday.

In 2013 there will be four senior and five junior teams taking part in National and Local Leagues and cups, along with occasional friendlies.

Last year saw the launch of the club’s development team, Forthill 3rd XI, to enhance the playing opportunities available to young cricketers making the transition from junior to senior cricket and after a highly successful inaugural season, they will participate in the newly regionalised SPCU Division Two North.

Fixtures: Saturday, April 20, Scottish Cup - Arbroath United v Forfarshire, Lochlands, 12 noon; S&PU Premier Division - Forthill v Arbroath United XI, 1p.m.; Sunday, April 21, friendly - Forfarshire v Stoneywood Dyce.
