‘Shire third

FOFARSHIRE dropped to third in the Clubsport Indoor Sixes Cricket League after losing to both Arbroath and Rossie Priory at the Mayfield Sports Centre, Dundee, last Wednesday.

League leaders Arbroath also defeated Largo on the night and are now guaranteed a place in the championship play-offs on March 28.

Results: Rossie Priory 45, Largo 40; Arbroath 56, Forfarshire 26; Arbroath 76, Largo 28; Rossie Priory 92, Forfarshire 78.

Gowfers’ Gamble

THERE was no jackpot winner when the weekly Gowfers’ Gamble draw was made at Laing Park on Monday evening.

The numbers drawn were 2, 4, 10, 13, 14 and 17. Consolation prizes of £25 go to J. Mann, Carnoustie, and S. Leslie, Barry.

The jackpot on Monday will be £2,500.

Rugby

Festival of rugby

A TOURNAMENT will be held this spring to promote junior rugby in Carnoustie. A series of rugby event days have been organised and will involve around 10 teams from across Scotland, inlcuding Arbroath, Montrose, Crieff, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.

The first tournament will take place at the Carnoustie High School rugby pitches on March 25 and is for players in the primary four to seven age range. On April 29 S1 and S2 pupils will compete in a sevens tournament and on May 13 the under-16s will take to the field.

All competitions are expected to start at 11 a.m. and finish at approximately 2.30 p.m. and there will be a prize-giving for each winning team.
