At the league’s annual general meeting in the Aboukir Hotel on Monday night, George Greig retired after many years of sterling service as match secretary. The position will be taken over by Lorna Ritch when the new season starts later this month.

Other office-bearers for 2014-15 are: chair and secretary, Una Wardrop; and treasurer, Robin Graham.

This season’s Murgitroyd T20 Knockout finals day, postponed from August 17, has been re-arranged for tomorrow (Saturday). Forfarshire will play Grange at Shawholm (Poloc CC), while the other semi-final, Dumfries v Clydesdale, goes ahead at Titwood (Clydesdale CC). Both matches will commence at 12 noon with the final to follow at Shawholm 3.30 p.m. approx. Should a further reserve day be needed, the matches will be held over to the following day, Sunday, September 7.

Meanwhile,, Forthill 3rd XI completed their Strathmore and Perthshire Union Second Division (North) fixture programme with a narrow four run victory at home to Montrose on Sunday.

In the club’s only other senior league fixture to go ahead at the weekend, Forthill 2nd XI (111 all out) lost by 100 runs away to St Modans (211 for seven) at Bluebell Wood Park on Saturday.

Forthill’s away fixture against Mannofield at Aberdeen on Saturday was cancelled after heavy overnight rain.

Following the Under-15s’ national trophy success earlier this year, Forfarshire Under-18s failed to make it a Scottish Cup double for the Broughty Ferry club, losing by 25 runs to Carlton in their semi-final tie at Boghall, Linlithgow, on Sunday. Carlton batted first and posted 131 for six from their 20 overs, then restricted their Forfarshire opponents to 106 for seven in reply.
