Aspiring Angus writers are being asked to get their thinking caps on for a prestigious children’s story-writing competition.
The Academy of Children’s Writers is looking for entries for the 28th annual Write a Story for Children Competition.
The competition has long been recognised as the most prestigious for unpublished writers of children’s books in the UK.
First prize in the 2013 competition is a cheque for £2,000, with second and third place prizes of £300 and £200 respectively.
The judges are looking for either short stories of up to 2,000 words or the opening 2,000 words of a longer story or novel.
Entry for UK participants is free and the closing date for entry is April 30, with the winners announced before the end of May. Entry forms and more information are available from www.childrens-writers.co.uk. Last year’s winners were: 1, Petra Johnson; 2, Lynn Hallett and 3, Jackie Brent.
