Screenings at the cinema by the sea are soon to increase with showings of all the latest movies as of March 20.
Nearly a year after opening, Chalmers Filmhouse, Queen’s Drive, has secured a new projector which allows the most up-to-date films to be shown.
“This is really great for the town. It gives people an alternative to travelling to Dundee but still provides the opportunity to see the newest releases. We also offer something a bit different, with big, comfy sofas and a relaxed environment, proving popular with our younger viewers!
“We are making sure there is something for everybody, including family films, films for older teenagers as well as movies for adults,” said manager Mary Copland. “It’s amazing, a year on, how many people still don’t know we’re here. We’re hoping this will change with the new film schedule.”
Expect to see new films such as Second Best Marigold Hotel, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Disney’s new Cinderella topping the bill following the launch, which kicks off at 12.30 for Shaun The Sheep Movie at 1 p.m. followed by the raunchy, nearly-sold-out 50 Shades of Grey in the evening.
The cinema will now be open seven days a week throughout the day, to allow people to come in, pick up tickets and get information or just enjoy a drink in the ‘Green Room’. Listings and online booking will now be available at www.chalmersfilmhouse.co.uk and on their current Facebook page.
