FORMER Carnoustie High School pupil Ross Knight (18) has been named as a player in the ‘4barsrest’ website fantasy brass band of the year.
The band is made up of a selection of players from all around the world and includes world-famous performers such as Les Neish, Katrina Marzella, Richard Marshall and David Childs.
As there are only 25 brass players and four percussionists in a contesting band this is an amazing achievement. Ross, who plays for both Arbroath Instrumental Band and Carnoustie and District Youth Brass Band, is currently studying at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London.
He is also the Scottish Open and Slow Melody champion as well the former principal tuba with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain which he had to leave in the summer after taking his place at the Royal Academy of Music.
Brass teacher Michael Robertson said: “Both the Arbroath Instrumental and Carnoustie and District bands are very proud of what Ross has achieved so far and we wish him well for what we are sure will be a very successful future.”
