Goldie The Goose visited Muirfield Primary School on Thursday to launch the Schools Art Competition for this year’s professional family Panto at the Webster Memorial Theatre, Arbroath.

Headteacher Audrey Watson said: “The children got a lovely surprise today when Goldie the Goose visited our school. Primary 1 – Primary 7 attend the Panto each year and always look forward to visiting the Webster Theatre.

“We can’t wait to see all the cast of Jack and The Beanstalk. Muirfield pupils will be cheering them on.”

Goldie, the Giant’s Goose who lays golden eggs, invited the school pupils to design a poster of the Giant’s Kingdom and the beanstalk that Jack and Jill climb.

The competition is open to all primary school children. Drawings are to be submitted to the Webster Memorial Theatre, 64 High Street, Arbroath DD11 1AW Arbroath, by Tuesday, November 25.

Entries will be judged by designer Robin Mitchell.

The winners of the competition will receive a family ticket for Jack and the Beanstalk.

Written and directed by award winning playwright John Binnie the story follows a brother and sister, Jack and Jill, and their Mither Mandy Moo Moo.

John Binnie said: “I am delighted to be returning to Angus and to the Webster Memorial Theatre. We have an amazing strong cast of actors and the show promises to be good old fashioned fun and top-class professional family entertainment.”

Jack and the Beanstalk opens to the public on Saturday, December 6 until December 24.

Tickets are available from the Webster Theatre’s box office 01241 435800.
