An Angus man is currently in training for what is one of the biggest undertakings he has ever considered. And it really is no easy task – running 333 miles!

Mark Dryden, alongside his mate Kyle MacPhail intend to run the length of the coastline from John O'Groats to Inchture in a total of 12 days, in memory of Ruby Stewart and to raise money for the "Be More Ruby Charity".

Ruby was a six-year old girl who tragically died of a rare form of soft tissue cancer. Her family created the charity in her memory, and to raise funds for research into the disease which took their daughters life.

Mark told ACP: “I am obviously hoping to raise as much money and awareness as possible and would greatly appreciate any kind of support offered.

"I fully appreciate that there’s a lot going on in the world right now, as well as a cost of living crisis, so understand that for a lot of folks, money is tight.”

Ruby Stewart tragically lost her life to a rare form of soft tissue cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma. Her parents created a charity called “Be More Ruby”which is focused on raising awareness and funds for childrens cancer research.

Last summer Mark ran 100 miles in a week including 2 marathons and a run from Arbroath to Rubys hometown of Inchture.

This year he intends to better that on July 4 when he and Kyle will attempt the monumental 333 miles trek from John O’Groats in the far north of the country back down to Inchture, sticking to the coastline.

Mark continued: “In addition to this we will be stopping and attempting to raise the profile of the charity during the run.

"Our average mileage will be 27.5 miles per day for a total of 12 days. Our overnight stops include Inverness, Elgin, Fraserburgh, Aberdeen and Arbroath as well as some others.

“We started training last month and are already running between 50-100 miles per week in order to meet the training needs of the run.”
