An appeal has gone out to the public for food and toiletries which could bring some cheer to those in need this Christmas.

Forfar Community Football Trust is again involved with this year’s SPFL Trust’s Festive Friends initiative, alongside Forfar Athletic FC, Forfar Athletic Community Football Club and Forfar Farmington Football Club.

The initiative helps to support local, socially isolated elderly people during the festive season.

The clubs will head out into the community the week commencing December 19 to deliver Christmas hampers to 100 local people. If you know of someone who deserves a pick-me-up, nominate them by completing a form at https://forms.gle/78Ss4LHRotgnk7tc9

The trust is looking for donations of non-perishable food and toiletry items which can be dropped off at training sessions. These are at Station Park, Monday and Thursday 7-9pm (box available at the gate). Items can also be handed in at the Farmington clubhouse, Market Muir on Tuesdays, 7pm-8pm; Thursdays 7pm-8.30pm and Saturday, 10.30am-12pm. Any committee member or your club coach can also be contacted.

The final date for donations is Friday, December 16.

Surplus donations will be donated to another local cause.
